SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
American InterContinental University (AIU®) is proud to announce that it
has been named a Top School in Military Advanced Education’s(MAE)
2015Guide to Colleges and Universities. The accolade, which AIU
has received eight years in a row, recognizes the university as a
standout in serving military service members, veterans and their
families in four key areas: military culture, on-campus and online
support services, financial aid and flexibility.
“AIU is proud to serve those who have given so much of themselves to
serve our country. We believe our military students and their families
should have access to a quality postsecondary education that honors
their service, provides scheduling flexibility and helps support their
unique needs,” said Dr. George Miller, President of AIU. “Being named a
Top School by Military Advanced Education for another year is truly an
honor that pays tribute to our commitment to all of our students, and
especially our military and veteran students.”
MAE’s Guide to Colleges & Universities is designed to provide a
comprehensive research tool to assist service members, education
services officers and transition officers in exploring postsecondary
education choices.
Over the years AIU has developed a range of initiatives designed to best
serve those who serve our country, as well as their families, including:
- Anytime, Anywhere Flexibility: AIU Online offers 24/7 access to
course materials, discussions, lectures, the online library and other
resources to provide a program that works with military students’
schedules no matter where they call home, even if they’re deployed
overseas.
- Military-friendly Policies: AIU’s deployment hold policy allows
students to put their education on hold for the length of their
deployment and return when it ends.
- Transfer Credit: Military students and veterans can receive
credit for eligible experience and training through the ACE (American
Council on Education) credit evaluation system and AIU’s own Prior
Learning Assessment (PLA) program. AIU also evaluates each student’s
prior college credit, CLEP and DANTES exam scores, and any
certifications they may already hold to determine which program
criteria may have already been met.
- Financial Assistance for Military Students and Families: AIU
offers reduced tuition rates for service members and veterans and also
awards grants equal to up to 10 percent of the cost of tuition for
eligible military and veteran spouses. Financial aid advisors who
specialize in assisting military students and veterans can assist
students in understanding the benefits available to them through
programs such as the AIU Veterans Grant and Yellow Ribbon Grant.
AIU’s inclusion the MAE 2015 Guide to Colleges & Universities is among
multiple accolades the school has received for its commitment to serving
military students, veterans and their families. AIU has also been named
to the Military Friendly® Schools List by Victory Media for six years
running and has been recognized on the Military Times Edge “Best for
Vets” list.
