COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Colorado
Technical University (CTU) announced today that Victory Media,
publisher of G.I. Jobsand Military Spouse magazines, recognized
the university as a Top Military Friendly School® for a sixth
consecutive year. The 2015 list of Military Friendly Schools honors the
top 20 percent of universities, colleges and trade schools that offer
the best experience for military students and are doing the most to
support America’s military service members, veterans and spouses.
The results are based on research conducted on more than 12,000
universities, colleges and trade schools nationwide and incorporate the
feedback of more than 4,000 student veterans. According to Victory
Media, the schools on the 2015 list exhibit leading practices in the
recruitment and retention of students with military experience.
“We’re incredibly honored to be recognized as a Top Military Friendly
School for the sixth year in a row,” said Andrew Hurst, president of
CTU. “Military men and women make life-altering sacrifices when they
choose to serve our country and many put their careers and educational
goals on hold. We work hard to help our military and veteran students
and their spouses achieve success in the classroom and support them as
they transition to civilian careers.”
More than 34 percent of CTU’s student population consists of active-duty
and veteran students and their spouses. Through its availability of
online classes and support services, the university offers military
students flexibility and access to higher education whether they are
deployed or at home.
CTU supports the needs of U.S. military service members with
specially-trained admissions advisors and financial aid specialists who
have expertise in the military enrollment process and military
educational benefits. CTU is committed to evaluating active-duty and
veteran service members’ prior learning, plus military training and
service, to ensure they obtain the maximum transfer credit for their
existing experience.
As part of its commitment to military service members and their
families, CTU annually awards 25 Wounded Warrior Scholarships and 25
Wounded Warrior Spouse Scholarships to deserving applicants. The
scholarship program offers educational assistance to wounded and veteran
service men and women as they recover from their injuries and for their
spouses as they prepare for new career opportunities.
In addition to its recurring Victory Media designation, CTU was
recognized by Military Advanced Education as one of the Top
Universities Serving the Educational Needs of the Armed Forces in
2008-2014. Military Times ranked CTU among the Best for Vets for
two years in a row and in 2008, CTU received the Council of College and
Military Educators (CCME) Institution Award. The CCME award was
presented to CTU in recognition of its Quality Education Programs to the
Armed Services and significant contributions to the cause of military
education.
