Career Education Corporation (NASDAQ: CECO) today expressed its most
sincere condolences to the family of former board member David W.
Devonshire, who died Thursday, June 25 at the age of 70. Mr. Devonshire
resigned from the Board of Directors in May, citing health concerns. He
served on the company’s board beginning in March 2008 and was Chairman
of the Board from May 2013 until June 2014.
“Dave’s financial expertise, in particular, was invaluable as we began
the transformation of our company and its education institutions for a
brighter future,” said Ron McCray, Chairman of the Board and Interim

share my deepest condolences with Dave’s family. He was a man of
principle and we miss him greatly.”
Mr. Devonshire served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer of Motorola, Inc., from March 2002 through his retirement in
March 2007. From December 1998 until joining Motorola, Mr. Devonshire
was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of
Ingersoll-Rand Company, a global diversified industrial firm. From July
1993 until joining Ingersoll-Rand, he served as Senior Vice President
and Chief Financial Officer of Owens Corning, a global producer of
residential and commercial building materials.
Over his lifetime, he served on many civic and company boards including
the Toledo Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, United Way, Roper Industries, Meritor,
Career Education, and Arbitron. In 2006, Treasury and Risk Magazine
named Mr. Devonshire one of the top 100 financial executives.
Institutional Investor magazine voted him one of the best Chief
Financial Officers in 2005, 2006, and 2007 for his work at Motorola.
