AIU announces new accreditation and $15,000 tuition for its Online
M.Ed. program and launches classroom-support initiative for educators in
partnership with DonorsChoose.org.
SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Continuing its commitment to help teachers expand their own educational
opportunities and those of their students, American InterContinental
University (AIU) today announced new programmatic accreditation and new
pricing for its Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs in elementary and
secondary education.
Designed to fit teachers’ career goals and their budget, the M.Ed.
degrees in elementary and secondary education are now offered at an
affordable tuition price of $15,000.1 Additionally,
accreditation for AIU’s online M.Ed. program under the Teacher Education
Accreditation Council (TEAC) quality principles has been reaffirmed
through 2018, and the M.Ed. specializations in elementary and secondary
education now are also TEAC-accredited.
“At AIU, it’s our goal to deliver what teachers are looking for not only
in terms of a specialized curriculum and flexible online programs but
also from a pricing and value perspective,” said Dr. Jeannette Jones,
University Dean of Education at AIU. “The new accreditation also serves
as a mark of quality, as our students will know that the program has
been held to the rigorous and comprehensive TEAC evaluation standards.”
AIU's Master of Education program was among the first fully online
programs to receive TEAC accreditation when it received its initial
accreditation in 2013. Providers accredited under the TEAC Quality
Principles, as well as those accredited under the National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) standards, are now served by
the single specialized accreditation system for educator preparation in
the United States, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator
Preparation (CAEP). More than 900 educator preparation providers
participate in the CAEP accreditation system.
“Seeking accreditation is a signal of a provider’s commitment to
continuous improvement and P12 student impact and learning,” said Stevie
Chepko, Senior Vice President of Accreditation for CAEP. “The awarding
of national accreditation is predicated on years of data collection and
analysis, leading to evidence-based decision-making – all to improve
teacher education. Any program that takes this on should be applauded.”
To further support educators, the University also has launched a new
partnership with DonorsChoose.org to help teachers fund college and
career preparation activities for students. AIU’s “Double Your Impact”
match offer with DonorsChoose.org supports qualifying projects in 6th
– 12th-grade public school classrooms where the needs are
greatest. When designated projects reach 50 percent of their funding
goal, AIU matches the total contribution, up to a total of $35,000. In
the past 15 years, DonorsChoose.org has funded more than 660,000
projects to reach nearly 17 million students from coast to coast.
“We are delighted to partner with AIU to support college and career prep
classroom projects, said Kristina Joye Lyles, Partnership Manager at
DonorsChoose.org. “This generous contribution to teachers will ensure
that students will receive the resources they need to excel beyond the
classroom.”
Designed by teachers for teachers, AIU’s M.Ed. programs in elementary
and secondary education are among the few M.Ed. programs to integrate
adaptive learning throughout the entire curriculum, provide a more
personal and efficient learning experience through the university’s
proprietary adaptive learning technology, intellipath™.2
“With our TEAC-accredited M.Ed. programs, teachers can complete the
degree they need to take their career to the next level while juggling
the demands of their own students and their busy lives outside of the
classroom,” said Dr. Jones.

1. AIU’s elementary and secondary education online M.Ed. programs are
post-licensure programs and thus require a current teaching licensure
upon matriculation. The $15,000 tuition excludes fees and assumes a
student will be continuously enrolled, and satisfactorily completes all
program requirements for graduation. The tuition cost will increase due
to academic failure of courses and or withdrawals and drops. AIU
reserves the right to make changes at any time to the amount of tuition
and fees, such as a technology and graduation fee as set forth in the
Enrollment Agreement and University Catalog. The tuition costs at other
institutions may vary based on tuition and fee policies, delivery
modality, online, ground, or hybrids and the student’s state of
residence.
