AIU’s online bachelor’s degree programs ranked at No. 30 of the 300
programs evaluated; the university also was recognized for top MBA and
M.Ed. programs and its distance education options for active-duty troops
and veterans.
SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
American InterContinental University (AIU) is further establishing
itself as a leading provider of online higher education. Today, the
University announced that it was named to the prestigious U.S. News &
World Report 2016 Best Online Programs rankings. Of the 300 programs
evaluated, AIU’s online bachelor’s degree programs ranked at No. 30,
placing in the top 10 percent among options for students enrolling in
distance education programs to earn their degrees.
“The high ranking from U.S. News & World Report illustrates that AIU’s
online bachelor’s programs stand out amid a large and growing field of
higher-education choices for today’s online students,” said Dr. George
Miller, president and chancellor of AIU. “In addition to an exemplary
academic program, we are committed to providing students with both the
flexibility to complete their degree on their own time and the
opportunity to pursue the next step forward in their careers.”
U.S. News & World Report is one of the leading providers of consumer
advice and analysis, and is a trusted resource for students exploring
their options in higher education. Offering a wide range of
undergraduate and graduate degree programs, AIU also earned recognition
as No. 28 of 195 programs evaluated in U.S. News & World Report’s Best
Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans rankings for providing
active-duty troops and veterans with access to distance education that
is affordable, accessible and reputable. Additionally, the publication
recognized the university’s MBA and Master of Education among the
country’s best online programs. These graduate-level degrees provide
students with the opportunity to make their studies both more
personalized and efficient by incorporating intellipathTM,
AIU’s proprietary adaptive learning technology that lets students skip
over what they already know so they can focus their time on what they
need to learn.
“We are honored to be included in the U.S. News & World Report rankings,
which recognize AIU’s dedication to providing innovative, engaging
online programs that can help students obtain the knowledge and
credentials needed to boost their careers,” said Miller. “This most
recent achievement reinforces how AIU is staying at the forefront of an
evolving educational landscape.”
U.S. News Online Programs Methodology
Aiming to provide students and working adults with a resource to select
the distance-education programs that are right for them, U.S. News &
World Report looked at a number of factors when determining the 2016
rankings, including student engagement, faculty credentials and
training, student services and technology, and peer reputation. Schools
were reviewed on how their programs promote participation in courses and
whether instructors create a rewarding experience that drives students
to stay enrolled and complete their degrees in a reasonable amount of
time. Other areas evaluated include having instructors with strong
academic credentials, incorporating diverse learning technologies and
providing strong support outside of class such as career guidance and
learning assistance.
U.S. News & World Report selects factors, known as ranking indicators,
to assess each program and calculates the ranking using data that each
university reported to U.S. News & World Report in a statistical survey.
The value for each ranking indicator is standardized about its mean,
multiplied by weights U.S. News has selected for the ranking indicators
and summed up to compute the four separate category scores. These scores
are then rescaled so that the top-scoring school receives a display
score of 100 and the bottom-scoring school receives a display score of
zero.
